Our postgraduate academic fellowship prepares pharmacy graduates who would like to
pursue a career in pharmacy education, offering a curriculum that includes clinical
practice, teaching, service and scholarship.
The University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy Academic Fellowship is a 12-month
program located in Columbia, South Carolina. that aims to develop highly proficient
clinical academicians who will excel in all pillars of academia, including teaching,
scholarship, and service. Graduates of this program are qualified to seek full-time
employment at a college or school of pharmacy. Clinical practice sites will be matched
to the fellow’s area of interest or specialty (cardiology, infectious diseases, internal
medicine, pediatrics). Fellows selected for the program will begin in July each year.

Dissect the fundamentals of academia, including but not limited to course coordination,
committee involvement, tenure and promotion, and mentorship.
Apply skills in scholarly activity through research experience and scholarly deliverables.
Develop an appreciation of service through the University, College of Pharmacy, and
professional organizations through active committee work and volunteerism.
Establish teaching philosophy, style, and preceptorship through educational deliverables
in the USC-COP curriculum.
Manage and maintain an ambulatory clinical practice site while balancing concurrent
academic responsibilities.
Ambulatory care based on applicant interest area (e.g., cardiology, infectious diseases,
internal medicine, pediatrics)

Stipend: $54,000

Timeline: 1 year duration with a target start date of July

Macaleigh Mancuso, Pharm.D., is originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She received
her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy
after earning a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from The University of Southern
Mississippi. Dr. Mancuso completed a PGY1 residency at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, SC,
and maintains a clinical ambulatory care practice affiliated with Prisma Health.
